The Pastor and the First Lady
Reginald Vincent Ferguson, a man of vision, passion and an excellent spirit, was born and reared in Brevard County on the east coast of Central Florida. He grew up in the loving home of Bishop Cleveion and Dorell Ferguson with three brothers and one sister. The fourth child and the third boy, Reggie, as he was called then, was a fun-loving, creative, and sometimes mischievous boy. He developed a love for music at a very young age and began playing drums at the age of 8 years old. There in Titusville, he graduated from Astronaut High School where he excelled as a drummer for the Astronaut War Eagle marching band, jazz band, and Peacemakers.
Pastor Ferguson received Christ at the age of 12 and grew up attending church regularly as a PK (preacher’s kid) on Sunday morning, Sunday night, Wednesday night, and every night during revivals. He enjoyed church where he played drums and enjoyed watching people “shout”, dancing before the Lord with all of their might. He was active in church activities as a teenager attending youth camps, conventions, and participating in Church of God Teen Talent where he won numerous awards for playing the drum set. He was called to preach at the age of seventeen years old and began to serve in the church immediately. He served as a Sunday school teacher, Bible study teacher, church musician, and a youth camp counselor. He later went through the Ministerial Internship Program in the Church of God, Cleveland, Tennessee and received his first ministerial credentials. He enrolled at Lee University and finished his first semester of college. He preached whenever he had an opportunity and worked with his father as a musician and evangelist’s assistant. He participated in street ministry with his father and taught Bible study and held noon day prayer during his father’s revivals. He also was a part of the State Evangelism Team of the Florida, Cocoa office as a teenager. He served the other ministers, participated in street witnessing, and served as a musician.
Pastor Ferguson began serving as pastor of the York #2 Church of God, his first pastoral assignment, at age 20. He also attended East Coast Bible College and completed his second semester of college. During this time, he married his sweet, God fearing wife, Regeania. Regeania is the daughter of the late Johnny Shivalier and Mrs. Mary Shivalier. They continued to serve the Lord together and Pastor Ferguson felt led to finish his undergraduate degree at Northwest Bible College in Minot, North Dakota. Soon they added to their union Reginald V. Ferguson Jr. Pastor Ferguson continued to preach whenever and wherever he could and served as Evangelism and Outreach Director and a musician at the East Burdick Church of God in Minot, North Dakota under the direction of Pastor Jim Chambers. When he finished all but one requirement to earn a Bachelor of Science degree, he accepted the call to preach in South Georgia and was assigned as a State Evangelist. He and his small family lived on the Church of God Campground in Tifton, Georgia while he served as a State Evangelist for a year. He finished his degree during this time. He was later asked to plant a church in Albany, Georgia where he started the Turner Field Church of God. The church later relocated to a church in the neighboring city of Dawson, Georgia. It was at this time Timothy G. Ferguson was added to their union. Pastor Ferguson then served as the pastor of the McCormick Church of God in McCormick, South Carolina for five years. He then was directed to pursue a higher degree and served as an assistant to Bishop Leroy Capers at the Gates of Praise Church of God in Nashville, Georgia after working at the Florida Sheriff’s Boys Ranch near Live Oak, Florida. He preached, served as Sunday School Superintendent, and served as a musician. He and his wife worked with the youth and finance department as well. During this time, he also worked as a mental health therapist with North Florida Mental Health and South Georgia Behavioral Health Services.
Pastor Ferguson graduated from Valdosta State University with a Master of Music Education in May of 2004 and accepted an assistant band director position at Dublin High School in Dublin, Georgia. During his time at Dublin High School, he served as Minister of Music at New Providence Baptist Church in Jeffersonville, Georgia and church musician at New Vision Missionary Baptist Church in Dudley, Georgia. In 2007, Pastor Ferguson accepted the position of Director of Bands for McIntosh County in Darien, Georgia where he taught band from grades 5 through 12 including high school marching band. During this time, he was blessed to work with the “Visionary Man”, Elder Griffen Lotson as Associate Pastor. He also received his license as an ordained minister in the Church of God in Christ during this time. After 3 years in Darien, he returned to Nashville, Georgia and spent another year with Bishop Leroy Capers and served as high school chorus director and 6th grade band director in Berrien County Georgia.
In 2011 Pastor Ferguson accepted the job as Chorus Director at Turner Middle School in Douglas County. It is at this time that he began attending Living the Word Church of God. He and Lady Ferguson have been an integral part of the church under the leadership of Pastor Eugene Lockett. For the past 6 years he has faithfully served as minister of music, preached, taught Sunday school, taught Bible Study, conducted training sessions, and conducted revivals. Senior Pastor Eugene Lockett felt led to retire and move into another phase of ministry. The North Georgia Church of God State Administrative Bishop, Thomas A. Madden, met with Pastor Ferguson and assigned him as pastor after consultation and prayer. The Fergusons are honored and excited to serve.
